BASEBALL THANKSGIVING

  • I am thankful that the 2010 Vermont Lake Monsters chose a rubber chicken to spur their rallies.  I couldn’t really get my head around the fact that they had a rubber chicken hanging by it’s neck in the center of their dugout.  A player confirmed it was their “rally chicken”.  Perhaps their lack of imagination cost them the championship?
  • I am thankful that the ValleyCats played so many meaningful games in 2010.
  • I am thankful for the fans I have met by writing this blog.
  • I am thankful for the ValleyCat staff I have met over the years.
  • I am thankful that my high school classmate, Ed Van Buren, chose last season to escalate his ValleyCat game attendance.  He surely chose a great year.
  • I am thankful the San Francisco Giants won the World Championship.  My late brother-in-law, Rich Helinski, was a Giant fan.  Rich took us to San Francisco to watch the Giants play.
  • I am thankful that our son, Ryan, continues to join me at ValleyCat games.  As long as the menu is attractive, I think he will go on.  Unless it looks like rain!
  • I am thankful for Joe Bruno Stadium.  If there is a bad seat in the house, no one has told me about it.
  • I am thankful for all the coaches and players who have ever worn a ValleyCat uniform.
  • I am thankful there is a game called baseball.
  • I wish you a warm and meaningful Thanksgiving.
